THE UNBEATABLE ADVANTAGE OF SAME-DAY CROWNS
Typically, the dental crown process takes two visits to complete and requires a temporary crown or filling.
Here at Pruitt & Earp Dentistry, we value your time and strive to make your visit as seamless as possible by providing same-day crowns.
No Messy Impressions
Instead of using messy and uncomfortable putty impressions, our intraoral camera accurately scans your tooth in seconds, allowing us to design your fully customized crown.
No Second Visit
By creating and placing restorations in one visit, patients don’t need to deal with temporary crowns and don’t have to wait on an offsite lab. Altogether, they spend less time in the dental chair.
Why We Use Porcelain
FOR OUR DENTAL CROWNS
Today’s dentists can choose from a range of materials to create dental crowns, but we believe that porcelain remains the best choice for our patients throughout Greenville and beyond. Porcelain can be color-matched to natural teeth, so your restoration will look indistinguishable from the real thing. Porcelain crowns can be precisely sculpted for optimal fit without compromising on strength and durability. This material offers superb functional and aesthetic value at a reasonable price point.

WHAT IS THE COST OF A DENTAL CROWN?
Here at Pruitt & Earp Dentistry in Greenville and Plymouth, NC, we typically charge $1,000 to $1,250 per crown. The price depends on several factors, such as which tooth is being treated and how much your dental insurance will cover. We try to make treatment more affordable in the following ways:
Maximizing Your Benefits
Our office is in-network for most dental insurance providers, and we will work with you to get the maximum benefits. Most companies provide coverage for at least a portion of the cost of a crown.
Accepting Financing
We offer financing through CareCredit®, a lending company that splits costs into monthly payments. This adds flexibility and peace of mind, and makes dental care that much more affordable.
WHICH ISSUES CAN CROWNS ADDRESS?
Tooth Decay
Sometimes, it is more beneficial to treat a cavity with a crown than a filling. Large cavities are more at risk of developing into greater oral health problems.
Missing Teeth
Implant-supported crowns provide unmatched stability for missing teeth. They also prevent bone atrophy as the dental implants mimic tooth roots.
Root Canal
A tooth treated with a root canal is vulnerable to damage. A crown acts as a protective cap, sealing the tooth off and giving it tremendous strength.
Damaged Tooth
Dental crowns protect cracked or broken teeth by providing an extra layer of reinforcement, restoring your ability to eat and chew without worry.
Unbalanced Aesthetics
Is one tooth bigger or smaller than the surrounding teeth? A crown balances out your smile for a more comfortable bite and attractive appearance.
Discoloration
If you have a stubborn stain that doesn’t respond to teeth whitening, a dental crown can transform the tooth with a luminous shine.
TAKE A LOOK AT HOW CROWNS ARE PLACED
After applying local anesthetic and carefully reshaping the tooth, your dentist will fit it with a customized dental crown made at one of our offices in Greenville and Plymouth, NC. You won’t have to wait days or weeks or wear a temporary crown when you choose our practice.
Treatment Process
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING SAME-DAY CROWN TREATMENT
1
Consultation
At your initial consultation at our Greenville or Plymouth office, our dentist will examine your teeth using advanced technology to determine if a crown is right for you. We will explain the treatment process and answer any questions you may have.
2
Preparation
In some cases, a tooth with extensive decay may need root canal therapy to address pain and infection in preparation for a dental crown.
3
Shaping
The top and sides of your tooth are gently reshaped to ensure the crown fits snugly over the tooth.
4
Impressions
Your dentist uses an intraoral camera to scan the tooth and design your crown. The porcelain material is color-matched with surrounding teeth to ensure a seamless appearance. The images are sent to our onsite CEREC machine.
5
Fabrication
The CEREC machine mills your custom crown out of porcelain as you wait in our comfortable office. This eliminates the need for a temporary crown or second dental appointment.
6
Placement
Once the crown is ready, our dentist places it over the tooth to ensure a comfortable fit. Any necessary adjustments are made before permanently cementing the crown.
WHY YOU SHOULDN’T WAIT TO GET A DENTAL CROWN
Risk of More Severe Damage
A tooth that needs a crown is always susceptible to further damage from biting, chewing, or teeth grinding. If the tooth were to split or become severely damaged, a crown may no longer be a viable option. The tooth may need to be extracted and replaced with a dental implant.
Prevent Further Decay
Bacteria can quickly spread in the mouth and cause existing decay to worsen. Over time, decay can affect the tooth roots. The only way to address this concern is with a root canal, which will add time and money to your dental treatment plan.
ARE YOU MISSING ONE OR MORE TEETH?
A DENTAL BRIDGE CAN HELP
For patients who are missing one to three teeth, a dental bridge can fill in the gaps, restoring your ability to eat and speak with ease and significantly improving your day-to-day life. We offer both traditional and implant-supported bridges and can help determine which is best for you during a consultation at our Greenville or Plymouth office.
• Traditional bridges are made of one or more false teeth in between two crowns, which are attached to your natural teeth.
• In contrast, an implant-supported bridge is attached to implant posts and doesn’t require support from surrounding teeth.
Bridges can be brushed and flossed just like your natural teeth.
